Application:

Current topical delivery methods for lipophilic molecules like cannabinoids often fail to deliver effective concentrations beyond the outer skin layer. Existing solutions rely on high levels of solvents, raising safety, stability, and efficacy concerns. There is a strong medical and cosmetic need for effective, solvent-free delivery systems capable of penetrating the skin barrier and improving bioavailability of active agents.

Our Innovation:

Terpenosome is a novel nanovesicular carrier that uses terpenes (e.g., limonene, geraniol, menthol) to enhance dermal and transdermal delivery of lipophilic molecules, including CBD. The formulation is phospholipid-free and based on a unique combination of terpene, saponin, ethanol, and water—surprisingly forming stable vesicles that significantly enhance skin penetration of cannabinoids and other lipophilic compounds.

Key Findings:

• Up to 24× greater CBD skin permeation vs. conventional emulsions
• Prolonged and more effective analgesic effect in vivo
• Stable >9 months with no degradation
• Safe and non-toxic in preclinical models
• Also effective for other lipophilic molecules, such as fluorescent probes

Advantages:

• Deep Skin Penetration: Delivers active ingredients into and across skin layers
• Solvent-Free & Stable: Long shelf life with no phase separation
• Proven Bioavailability: Significantly improved vs. market alternatives
• Broad Utility:
   – Medical: May treat acne, psoriasis, dermatitis, pain, infections, alopecia, and more
   – Cosmetic: Delivers vitamins and actives for skin health

Opportunity:

The growing demand for effective, non-invasive delivery systems—especially in the cannabinoid, cosmeceutical, and pain relief markets—creates a strong commercial opportunity. Terpenosome offers a scientifically validated, versatile platform for companies seeking next-generation topical formulations.
We are seeking partners for product development, scale-up, and commercialization.
