Genetically engineered probiotic bacteria for the local treatment of inflammatory Bowel Condiftions

The following are diseases that this technology can be applied to:

  • Periodontal disease (PD): This is a chronic inflammatory condition affecting up to a third of the adult population in Western countries.
  • Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)
  • Inflammation associated colorectal carcinoma: For the population of patients with chronic inflammation in the colon there is a great need for therapies that are specifically aimed at the mechanistic connection between the inflammation and the risk of cancer development.
  • There are multiple additional therapeutic areas that can be targeted, including obesity and obesity-associated cancer, autism, Alzheimer’s disease, cardiovascular disease (and others) – all of which have been linked to the gut microbiome.
