Researcher interests: Developmental biology. Characterizing the molecular embryonic development of the vertebrate hindbrain using chick embryos as a model; studying embryonic development of the pituitary in zebrafish to understand growth vs. reproduction in fish. Generating the chick embryo as an in-vivo model to manipulate genes, cellular processes and to implant mammalian cells, for agricultural and medical purposes. Investigating different aspects of nervous system development, utilizing chick and mouse embryos as model systems to understand how regional specification and changes of cell behavior are established in the embryonic neural tube.
